London, England, and Bad Homburg, Germany, July 22, 2021 – UPS Healthcare’s UK operation, Polar Speed, today announced a five-year commercial agreement with Fresenius Medical Care, a leading independent provider of renal services, to provide warehouse and transport solutions for the delivery of treatments to patients and customers in the UK.

Through this agreement, Polar Speed will assume operation of Fresenius Medical Care’s facility in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire, UK, adding to Polar Speed’s GDP-compliant depot network. Polar Speed will also manage the transport of treatments on behalf of Fresenius Medical Care to hospitals, clinics and patient homes, with distribution facilitated through both the Fresenius Medical Care transport infrastructure and the Polar Speed and UPS Healthcare network, including temperature-controlled vehicles.

London, England, January 18, 2021 – UPS announced today an expansion of healthcare capabilities at its Polar Speed subsidiary, with a new 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art healthcare logistics facility in Birmingham, United Kingdom. UPS Healthcare is leveraging Polar Speed’s comprehensive healthcare expertise to help address the increasing need for last-mile COVID-19 vaccine delivery and other healthcare logistics support.

The new facility will create faster and more efficient logistics support for Polar Speed customers at a time when speed and efficiency can often mean the difference between life and death.

“Polar Speed is an important part of the UPS Healthcare global logistics network,” said UPS Healthcare President Wes Wheeler. “From this new facility, Polar Speed is already scheduled to deliver three million influenza vaccines each week into General Practitioner (GP) Surgeries and Community Pharmacies. During recent winter flu seasons, Polar Speed has routinely transported more than 10 million vaccine doses each year into various National Health Service locations.
